Adjustment Of Fuel Surcharge

There will be an adjustment to the fuel surcharge effective from 1 Feb 2010. The adjusted fuel surcharge as below:

Car Co-op members should have received a letter by now inviting them to transfer their car-sharing membership to the Car Club Pte Ltd.

Q1) Why are these changes and the transfer necessary?
A) NTUC Income has decided to divest its non-core businesses, as part of its overall strategy to focus on its core insurance business and transform itself into a modern financial institution. 

The members with expired membership fee will be given 3 choices to remain in the NTUC Income Car Cooperative Ltd ("Car Co-Op") or to transfer to a new car-sharing setup, Car Club Pte Ltd or to terminate their membership in the Car Co-Op.

Eventually, the Car Co-Op will wind up its business and exit the car-sharing scheme. We estimate this to take place within a year. The Car Club will take over the car-sharing business of the Car Co-Op.

Q2) What is the Car Club's website address.
A) At the moment, members can continue to use the Car Co-Op website at www.carcoop.com.sg. The Car Club and Car Co-Op information is essentially the same.

The new Car Club website, www.carclub.com.sg, is being developed and will be ready shortly. 

Q3) If I agree to renew the membership fee of $120 per year, would I be able to get a refund if I should decide to terminate my membership within the next 12 months?
A) Yes, your annual membership fee shall be prorated from the last renewal date at $10 per month and the balance will be refunded to you with your security deposit, less any outstanding usage charges.

Q4) If I join Car Club now, any charges incurred. What about my deposits, subscription paid to Car Coop. Will they be forfeited?
A) You only need to pay the annual membership fee if you wish to continue to participate in the car-sharing scheme. The $120 per year fee is the same amount for both the Car Co-Op and the Car Club.

If you choose to transfer to the Car Club, your deposit shall be transferred to the Car Club. This deposit shall be refunded to you when you terminate your membership in the Car Club later.

Q5) Why is there an annual membership fee to participate in the car-sharing scheme?
A) The annual membership fee is used to cover some fixed costs of car ownership otherwise the usage tariffs will be higher.

The fixed costs covered by the membership fee contributions are annual road tax, motor insurance and season parking charges.

Q6) Will there be a contact centre for Car Club where members can book cars?
A) The Contact Centre and telephone number for the Car Club is the same as the Car Co-Op for the next few months. The Car Club will advise you if there is any change in this.

Q7) Need to go for briefing again?
A) No. Everything is the same.

Q8) Will we get a new card?
A) You can continue to use your present smartcard and PIN. 

Q9) What are the tariffs for the Car Club?
A) The tariffs are the same as the Car Co-Op's. In some areas, the Car Club rates are better. These are covered in the letter sent to you.

Managing Agent For Car Co-Op

With effect from 1 July 2009, the Car Co-Op has appointed Car Club Pte Ltd as the managing agent to run its car-sharing operations. 

The Car Club team comprises many familiar names, e.g. Mr Kendrick Khoo, Ms Chan May Ling, Ms Jean Wee and Mr Brandon Tan.

The change to a managing agent arrangement is to provide greater operational efficiency and continuity of the car-sharing scheme.
